Slovenia's Retail Sales Grow by 2.1% in June

Real retail sales in Slovenia rose by 2.1% in June compared with the same month a year earlier, driven by growth in all major retail segments. However, compared with the previous month, sales declined slightly by 0.2%, the Slovenian Statistical Office reported on July 28.

Year-over-year, sales in the fuel retail sector rose by 1.8% in real terms. The food retail sector recorded a 1.6% increase, while sales in the non-food retail sector rose by 1.5%.

Month-over-month, however, the picture was mixed. Total retail sales fell by 0.2%, as a 9.4% decline in fuel sales more than offset the growth in food retail (+1.1%). Sales in the non-food retail sector remained unchanged compared with May.

In the first half of 2026, real retail sales were 1.9% higher overall than in the same period of the previous year.

The fuel retail sector recorded the strongest growth in the first six months of the year, with a 6.4% increase in sales. This was followed by the non-food retail sector, which saw a 2.5% increase. In contrast, food retail sales declined by 0.9%.

Sales and repairs of motor vehicles also continued to show positive growth. Sales in the sector rose by 12.0% in June compared with the same month a year earlier and increased by 4.2% compared with May. In the first half of 2026, they were 6.6% higher overall than in the corresponding period a year earlier.
