Amazon is investing billions in Poland

Amazon plans to invest at least 23 billion zloty—equivalent to about 5.4 billion euros—in Poland by 2028. With this move, the U.S. company aims to further expand its position in one of Europe’s most competitive e-commerce markets, Puls Biznesu reported on April 22.

The company is focusing on expanding its presence in logistics, technology, and digital services. Poland remains an important market for Amazon because online retail there continues to grow strongly, and both local platforms and international providers are competing for market share.

Expansion of Logistics

A key focus of the new investments is logistics infrastructure. Amazon plans to open a new 200,000-square-meter logistics center in Dobromierz in 2026. The facility is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in its first year of operation and will be equipped with modern robotics.

The expansion aligns with growth expectations in the European online retail sector. The value of the e-commerce market in Europe is expected to rise from around 600 billion euros to approximately 770 billion euros in the coming years. In Poland, online sales could reach nearly 200 billion zloty annually, according to Puls Biznesu.

Poland as a key Amazon location

Amazon already has a strong presence in Poland. Since 2012, the company has invested more than 45 billion zloty there and created around 19,000 jobs. The country now plays an important role in the company’s European operational network.

In addition to logistics and retail, Amazon is also expanding its digital offerings. Prime Video is increasingly investing in local productions. According to Puls Biznesu, planned projects include a series about former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and his family.

With these new investments, Amazon aims to strengthen its long-term position in Poland—in a market that continues to grow but is also becoming increasingly competitive.
