On June 9, the Finnish space company ICEYE announced the completion of a financing round totaling more than 1 billion euros. The company is now valued at over 10 billion euros. The strong growth is driven by the increasing global demand from governments for satellite-based reconnaissance and surveillance systems.
The company, which was co-founded and is managed by Polish entrepreneur Rafał Modrzewski, has developed into one of the world's leading providers of space-based geodata and reconnaissance infrastructure in recent years. Seven European governments already use ICEYE's sovereign satellite systems.
Financing round exceeds 1 billion euros
ICEYE announced that the financing round includes a primary Series F capital raise of 450 million euros, led by US investor General Atlantic.
Together with a secondary placement, the total volume of the Series F financing round exceeded the EUR 1 billion mark.
Expansion of global presence and new technologies
The funds will be used in particular to expand the company's international activities and to further develop its reconnaissance and analysis capabilities.
ICEYE intends to further strengthen its position as a provider of sovereign space and reconnaissance systems and provide governments and institutional customers with even more comprehensive data and information services in the future.
"The quality of the investors participating in ICEYE on this scale reflects a shared conviction: sovereign intelligence from space is entering a new era. This funding enables us to deliver new capabilities faster than ever before," explained co-founder and CEO Rafał Modrzewski.
Strong sales and profit growth
The financing round follows an extremely successful financial year 2025
According to the company, ICEYE:
achieved a turnover of more than 250 million euros,
EBITDA of over 100 million euros,
and an order backlog of more than 1.5 billion euros.
This makes the company one of the most profitable European providers of space and satellite technology.
Plans to double satellite production
ICEYE is planning to significantly expand its production capacity in order to meet the growing demand.
Annual satellite production is to be doubled from around 50 satellites at present to 100 satellites by 2028. At the same time, the launch frequency of the satellites is also to be increased.
Polish armed forces as a reference project
The delivery of a fully operational sovereign space and reconnaissance system to the Polish armed forces recently attracted particular attention.
According to ICEYE, the project was implemented within just twelve months from the signing of the contract to operational readiness. The company describes this as one of the fastest implementations of its kind in the world.
The model is now to be implemented in other European countries as well as in the Middle East and Asia.
